Political Landscape

Created for the Win-Win exhibition at the Ottawa Art Gallery

This line graph charts the percentage voter turnout for all elections held in Britain (blue), France (brown), Canada (grey) and the United States (green) since the end of WWII. Through the middle of the century, a time when the West held up democracy as a bulwark against communism and the evils of the East, we see a slow and steady decline in the voter participation. The graph resembles a minimalist landscape.

The piece measures 8’3″ x 25′.
